We're Safe - But There's Work To Be Done
My mother and I are safe from the fires. 🙏🏾 We’re blessed to have been welcomed into a home with power far away from the raging Kincade Fire and evacuation line, where I can continue critical medical treatment — while millions are tragically displaced, forced to flee, lacking electricity, suffering under smoke, watching their homes, businesses and communities burn, as flames continue to blaze. Thank you for your prayers and concern about my situation and health; we’ve been here for a few days, and will stay at least until power is restored and air improved, while I see additional doctors and undergo procedures. I channel all prayer and gratitude toward the brave firefighters and emergency response teams now on the front lines working tirelessly to contain the destructive forces amid increasing winds.
If you’re local in either Northern or Southern California and want to help, World Central Kitchen has activated #ChefsForCalifornia led by my dear friend Chef Tyler Florence to feed those most in need, as well as first responders — and always takes volunteers, just as we did by the thousand with #ChefsForPuertoRico. If I were healthy enough, I’d be right there with you to serve! Prayers of health and safety for all.
