We need more voices, honest voices, diverse voices… and today, I spoke to the very people who give me hope in creating a better world. This room was packed with hundreds of driven, articulate, passionate, brave high school and college student leaders from across the country, who listened closely, as I spoke about civic engagement, the campaign trail, activism, identity, white privilege, purpose, hate speech, intersectionality, life. Afterwards, dozens of these inspired young people lined up for over an hour to share personal stories with me, ask more questions, take selfies, invite me to their campus, cry together (I was so moved by their hearts and deeply humbled by their words!). Thank you Saban for having me — and for valuing the inclusion of a young, female, Jewish, activist voice in your extraordinary program.
