Strawless in Seattle

Welcome to Adrian Grenier and my life: two passionate environmental activists teaching, learning, dreaming, doing and thoroughly enjoying every moment of this journey to make the world a better place.

Things I love: the planet, our oceans, my friends. 🌍💦👫

Things I hate: straws, single use plastics, waste. 🚯🙈♻️

I am incredibly proud to be in Seattle to support my dear Adrian and celebrate Strawless in Seattle… with an appearance by none other than the “straw thief”

aka Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. And happy to report that I myself have been strawless for years.

2 MILLION plastic straws were eliminated from the waste stream in Seattle this month alone and every month to come! 150+ businesses, restaurants (including all Tom Douglas Restaurants), airports (check it out in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac)), stadiums (like the massive CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field), hotels, cafés and more local venues have signed on to become plastic straw free – thanks to the brilliant work of the Lonely Whale Foundation and its unstoppable team Dune Ives, Emy Kane and Emma M. Riley. This successful pilot campaign demonstrated the power in multi-sector collaboration for massive, positive real world impact. The city of Seattle will be entirely plastic straw-free starting in June 2018, per new legislation that begins to tackle the larger crises of plastic pollution and an unsustainable economy based on wasteful single-use disposable goods which are filling oceans, killing marine life, polluting waters, and desecrating our earth.

Will your city be the next to go strawless? Join the Lonely Whale team to #StopSucking, raise your uniquely powerful voice, and grow this critical movement for our health and that of our seas and planet!
