Yes, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” And also, “I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice.” Bending the arc toward true, lasting, equal justice requires far more than lip service or white-washed quotes without concrete action. This work demands a radical approach, visionary leadership, enduring hope, wholehearted faith, deep commitment, constant struggle and ultimate sacrifice, as MLK knew full well, embodied and taught us all through word and deed in both life and death. Honor his legacy through service, through organizing, through never remaining silent, apathetic or indifferent in the face of injustice.
