102 Days After the Accident

December 17th, 2019

I have a humble goal today: to be stitch free. 🤞🏼 I’m back in the office of my reconstructive surgeon to undergo a few more facial procedures (which I would describe if I understood them myself… so stay tuned for the medical breakdown!), then make decisions about my next lip surgery, and remove the last of the stitches from my eye — 102 days post accident. Pain is certain, blood inevitable, anxiety an absolute, confusion a forgone conclusion, and more stitches likely lie ahead, but I’d just really like to remove my bandages, wash my face and fall asleep for one night without stitches in my face. Do you have a goal simply for today?

And yes, I have sparkly red nails (because Christmas) and new organic leggings (my recovery uniform). Spark joy wherever possible, people! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m also completely wired after not being able to sleep a wink last night, a combination of nerves and who knows what, so praying this goes as well as possible — and then I can get to my next two doctors’ appointments and home to sleep STITCH FREE. 🙏🏾
